Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red Riding Hood

Model: Cheaynne Clark (MM#733610)
Make-up: Angie Callau
Costume: Vintage Costumers (aka the best costume store ever)
Axe: Colin & Ria Miller

I had a shoot this weekend with the amazing Cheyanne Clark. This was the first time I worked with her… it sure won’t be the last! We’d been planning this shoot for ages, and this was due to be the first in my Twisted Fairy Tales set, but got postponed due to illness. Well, we put it together again and sailed on. I got my good friend and make-up artist, Angie Callau to do hair and make-up for the shoot, and she did a fantastic job on short notice. We ended up doing several different non-fairy tale scenes as well, which will be coming down the pike soon, once I get this giant back-log of work sorted through. I’m slowly but surely making progress though!

More details and larger below the cut.

The Waiting

The Waiting

I finally got a chance to do pregnancy photos with my friend Lisa. I’ve got to say, photographing pregnant women is rather counter-intuitive. I mean… your’re photographing a woman and you want to emphasize the stomache?

Lisa had this absolutely fantastic gynormous 5-foot reflective umbrella that made some gorgeous light. Basically it creates a 5-foot light-source near your subject which creates just lusciously soft wrap-around light. Groovy! She better watch that thing… it might some day grow legs and follow me home :)

Lighting notes:
AB800 through orgasmic-umbrella at about 7 o’clock. Vivitar 283 bare at 10 o’clock as a kicker.

After the jump I’ve got a quick tutorial for getting rid of hot-spots.

La Bohème

La Bohème

For weeks I’d been planning a very special shoot. It’s the start of a new project that I’m just in the process of getting the ball rolling on, and I was SUPER excited about it. I had the model booked, I had rented an outfit, I’d begged, borrowed, and bought props for it, I was ready to roll. Then my model got sick. Sad story :(

But the moral of the story is just because all your carefully laid plans get completely rearranged at the 11th hour, doesn’t mean you can’t still got a cool shot.

Gothic Ballerina

Gothic Ballerina

I recently discovered that a friend of mine is also a trained ballerina! Well… I couldn’t let that pass like that, so I scheduled a goth ballerina shoot with her as part of my “Portrait A Week” project. I had also scheduled a MUA (Make-Up Artist) to come and help out with some killer make-up but sadly, she couldn’t make it. Rather than reschedule the shoot, I decided to go ahead and help out the make-up in post-production. It’s good to have a back-up plan, just in case, and I thought I’d share with you all how you can add make-up to a model in post-production!

Marriage Is Beautiful At Any Age

Marriage Is Beautiful At Any Age

A friend of mine at work has a sister-in-law who’s getting married, and are considering having me shoot it. I showed them some of my portfolio people shots I took and they really liked them, but asked to see some wedding photos I’ve taken, so I started pouring through the 2 weddings I’ve shot to pull out some shots, and came across this photo and decided to completely reprocess it. It’s from my mother-in-law’s wedding to my step-father-in-law (and that’s a lot of hyphens!). Here’s a quick write-up on my post-processing step-by-step.
