A friend of mine invited me out to see Tapes N Tapes play at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle a few weeks ago, so of course I brought my camera along.
Hey, all!
So I got my first round of 4×5 film back from the lab. This first shot was actually my last one of the outing and is my favorite. I feel like I really started to get a handle on using the camera at this point. While I love the bokeh and the overall composition is rather nice, I’m not thrilled with out-of-focus foreground elements, so clearly I still have areas of improvement.
My co-worker came in the other day with her 6-month old baby girl. Of course this meant everyone bringing out the cameras. Here’s my contribution.
Tuesday night I had some time and I’ve been wanting to play around with hard lighting some more and playing around with shadows so I decided to set up a still-life.
The lighting on this was extra-simple. The AB800 with the 7″ Reflector dish sitting at about 8 o’clock and set fairly far back to make the light harder. I then set a fork up just outside the frame tilted with one tine touching the paper so that the the shadow would be very crisp next to where the fork touched the paper, but as the paper-to-fork distance increased the shadow became more and more hazy.
