Test-Driving The Pentax DA* 50-135 f2.8 Lens

It came! It came! It Came!!! I’ve finally saved up up enough money to buy myself a new professional-grade lens. After much debating, hemming, and hawing, I decided on the Pentax DA* 50-135 f2.8. I picked it up today from the UPS depot, and brought it home and tested it out on the kids.

Granted it’s the “new toy”, but I’m already well in love with it. It’s low-light focusing is much faster than my Tamron 28-75mm f2.8, and it’s absolutely silent. The other thing I’d add about it is that it’s absolutely tack sharp.

My friends Caine and Lisa were making themselves a baby! I’d taken photos of a pregnant Lisa a few weeks earlier, but she wanted to re-shoot when she was even more bowling-ball-shaped, so we rescheduled this shoot for 2 weeks before the due-date.

Wynsday, Christian & Volunteering For The Tukwilla Schools Tech Levy Campaign

Meet Wynsday. She’s a sophmore in the Tukwilla school district of Seattle. Tukwilla is the most culturally diverse districts in the country, and is relatively poor, which means they do not have much in the way of computers, which puts it’s students (many of who are English Language Learners (ELL) and so are already handicapped linguistically) at an even bigger disadvantage trying to get into college or getting a job. The Tukwilla Schools Tech Levy Campaign is trying to pass a vote to raise money in the district for funds for computers in schools.
